Shelter Closure
The Big Bear Animal Shelter is closed due to the Line Fire. We are safely relocating all pets to the Devore and Apple Valley Animal Shelters temporarily. Pets staying at Apple Valley Animal Shelter will be available for adoption. If you reside in the Big Bear Animal Shelter’s service area and require evacuation support for your pets or livestock, the Devore Animal Shelter staff is prepared to offer temporary shelter and care.

This location will shelter domestic pets and livestock. Pets temporarily staying at this facility should have identification (collar and tags), and any necessary medication(s). When dropping off your pet(s), ensure they are in an appropriately sized pet carrier.
If you are staying at the following evacuation centers, your domestic pet is allowed to be sheltered on-site.

Ensure all medications and identification is sent with your pet.
Monitor for Line Fire updates by visiting: https://prepare.sbcounty.gov/line-fire/
Ensure the pet carrier is equipped during time of drop off. Also, monitor for road closure updates in case alternative routes must be taken.
