Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (CLPPP) provides community education to increase awareness of the potential danger of childrens’ exposure to lead, along with home environmental screenings, public health nurse case management and monitoring child health providers to ensure lead testing in high risk children.

Lead Service Line Replacement
Service lines feed water from a water main to your home. Unfortunately, some service lines have parts that are made of lead. The California State Water Board, Division of Drinking Water is working with water utility companies to identify and replace parts of the lines that have lead and are owned by the utility companies. CLPPP Services
- Case management services by Public Health Nurses (PHN)
- Nutritional education and assessment by Registered Dietitian
- Home environmental sampling of the paint, soil, and dust by an Environmental Health Specialist
- Capillary test trainings to health care providers, and technical assistance regarding Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Division of Health Care Statistics screening guidelines
- Investigation of complaints from agencies, businesses, and the public of unsafe renovation and remodeling activities that may put a child at risk for lead exposure
- Health Education Staff provides health education through presentations and health fairs to the general public, medical providers, and community-based organizations
Report Unsafe Work Lead Hazards in San Bernardino County
Older homes and buildings built before 1978 may contain lead-based paint. Disturbing lead-based paint by dry scraping or dry sanding during remodeling can create dangerous lead dust. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.
