The Community Engagement team works to bridge the divide between communities and the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health. Created in response to a lack of engagement and community participation in countywide public health decision-making, the community engagement team strives to:
- Enhance partner and community engagement in public health program planning & community health improvement decision-making.
- Identify, create, and strengthen strategic partnerships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), partners, stakeholders from various sectors, and other gatekeepers of the community.
- Increase opportunities for communication, participation, and collaboration between SBCDPH and partners to share resources, best practices, and lessons learned on public health priorities.
- Develop and demonstrate best practices for community engagement to increase alignment of programs, services, and utilization.
The Community Engagement team is interested in learning more about different organizations in the community to explore potential avenues of collaboration. If interested in an introductory meeting, please email us at EquityInAction@dph.sbcounty.gov.
The Community Engagement team also co-facilitates the monthly Community-Based Organization (CBO) Collaborative meetings. Navigate to the CBO Collaborative page for more information.
