HIV/AIDS Services
The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health provides comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment services. Some services are provided directly by the Department of Public Health, while others are delivered through partnership/agreements with community based agencies. All services are focused on meeting the National HIV/AIDS Strategy objectives of: 1) reducing new HIV infections, 2) increasing access to care to improve health outcomes for people living with HIV, and 3) reducing HIV-related health disparities.
HIV Prevention Services aim to increase community awareness, provide strategies for target populations to reduce personal risk, identify new infections through community testing, and link individuals to care and treatment. Clinical Services offer ongoing care and treatment for those living with HIV, including access to HIV medications (AIDS Drug Assistance Program). Ryan White Program administers Federal funds to medical and support service agencies in Riverside/San Bernardino counties. The HIV Planning Council, comprised of public and private sector representatives, including HIV positive consumers, plans the organization and delivery for Ryan White services in the two-county area. Surveillance activities result in a comprehensive epidemiologic profile of HIV needs in San Bernardino County that drives our prevention, care and treatment delivery system.
