Preparedness & Response
Welcome
The San Bernardino County Department of Public Health Preparedness and Response Program works to prepare for emergencies caused by bioterrorism, infectious disease, and other public health threats through the development and exercise of comprehensive public health emergency preparedness and response plans.
Our goal is to provide a coordinated response along with emergency responders and partner health agencies to meet the public health needs of our residents in the event of such disaster. During an event the Department of Public Health will conduct disease surveillance, provide emergency health information, health precautions, health education, and links to additional public health resources.
In the event of a public health emergency or natural disaster, this website will inform the residents of San Bernardino County with the following information:
- Emergency Phone Numbers
- Shelters
- Red Cross Families/Victims Registry
- Health Emergency Instructions
- Media Outlets
Jurisdictional Risk Assessment (JRA)
SBCDPH’s jurisdictional risk assessment (JRA) was developed for public health emergency preparedness, response, and recovery planning and serves as a structured evaluation of potential threats, vulnerabilities, and response capacities within San Bernardino County. The risk assessment process is a foundational component of emergency preparedness that ensures public health risks and threats specific to a jurisdiction (i.e. infectious disease outbreaks, environmental hazards, and bioterrorism) are identified and integrated into emergency planning efforts.
Multi-Year Integrated Preparedness Plan (MYIPP) June 2025
The purpose of the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health’s (SBCDPH) Multi-Year Integrated Preparedness Plan (MYIPP) is to outline a strategic approach for strengthening public health and emergency management capabilities across the county. This plan documents the process for enhancing the core capabilities necessary to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from threats and hazards impacting the community.
